GN Canada is recognized around the world as one of the foremost manufacturers of thermoformers, plastic packaging machines and tooling. Challenge

GN Canada's original site did not effectively showcase their innovative machines therefore it wasn't clear to the viewer what GN had to offer. It was important to highlight the capabilities of each machine through detailed specifications and photography.  Other issues were:
  • The number of clicks required to view machines details and specifications
  • Site was maintenance was restricted to one office computer that required desktop software*
  • GN's online image to the international market was not as strong as competitor sites
  • Online customer service tops needed to be improved

Solution

We wanted to provide the user the full GN product line up-front on the homepage and we achieved this in a number of ways:
  • Use of an image banner that included descriptive text for each model and liked to each respective model or model category
  • By showcasing the product categories in the body of the homepage which linked directly to the respective line
  • We also included an embedded YouTube video on the homepage to demonstrate the workings of their newest machine.
The overall site architecture remained intact from the previous site however the content was enhanced for SEO by AlphaSearch.

To drive the functionality and maintenance of the site we implemented Joomla as the CMS with an adapted shopping cart to catalog the machines. By using a shopping cart to catalog the products we will be able to extend the functionality at a later date (ie product comparison, etc).

Result

  • Content Management System = facilitates growth of content and site functionality.
  • YouTube / social media integration = sharing of content and feedback.
  • Fully multilingual = increased consumer / product awareness on an international level
